TypePup keeps everything on YOUR device - like a secret treasure chest that only you can open! We don't send your name or stars anywhere else. Your practice is YOUR adventure!
What We Store
The short version: TypePup does NOT collect, send, or share any personal information. Everything stays right here on your device!
TypePup saves the following information only on your device:
- Player name (the name you pick yourself!)
- Stars you've collected and high scores
- Practice stats (which letters you've practiced)
- Your favorite profile color
- Your practice streak
- Sound and voice settings
This data is stored using your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.
What We DON'T Do
- We do NOT use tracking cookies
- We do NOT use analytics or advertising
- We do NOT collect emails or contact info
- We do NOT share data with anyone
- We do NOT have accounts or logins
- We do NOT track your behavior
The Voice Feature
TypePup can speak letters out loud using your browser's text-to-speech system. Here's how it works:
On mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, most Android): Speech is typically processed entirely on your device using built-in voices.
On desktop browsers (Chrome, Edge): Your browser may use cloud-based voices. When this happens, the letters and words being spoken (like "A" or "Apple") may be sent to Google or Microsoft for processing. No personal information is included.
We use the standard Web Speech API, which is controlled by your browser and operating system - not by TypePup.
For maximum privacy:
- Use TypePup on a mobile device, OR
- Use the app while offline (forces local voices), OR
- In your device settings, select a local/offline voice
About Our Hosting
TypePup is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare keeps basic traffic stats (like how many people visit) but does NOT collect personal information or track individual visitors.
Deleting Your Data
Since everything is stored on your device, you're in complete control:
- Delete a profile: Open TypePup, tap your profile picture, then tap "Delete Profile"
- Delete everything: Clear your browser's data for this site, or use "Clear browsing data" in your browser settings
Once deleted, it's gone forever - there's no backup anywhere!
For Parents
TypePup is designed for children ages 3-7 and follows these privacy laws:
- COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act - United States)
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation - European Union)
Because TypePup does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information:
- No parental consent is required
- Your child's name, scores, and progress stay on your device
- There are no accounts, logins, or registration
- We do not store any data on our servers
Note about text-to-speech: When using desktop browsers, the voice feature may use cloud-based speech services (see "Voice Feature" section above). This involves sending the spoken text (letters and words) to the browser's voice provider - but no personal or identifying information.
